The Hawai‘i ‘Amakihi is resident on the islands of Hawai‘i, Mau‘i, and Moloka‘i; the Kaua‘i ‘Amakihi is resident on the island of Kaua‘i; and the O‘ahu ‘Amakihi is resident on the island of O‘ahu. The Greater ‘Amakihi, now extinct, formerly occupied both sides of Wailuku River above Hilo on Hawai‘i I. See text for details.
