Long-eared Owls are rare and local breeders in areas south of their primary breeding range. They withdraw from the northern portion of breeding range in winter, wintering erratically south to the dotted line. Limits of breeding and wintering ranges, and distribution in Mexico, are poorly known and likely vary from year to year.
