Figure 1. Distribution of the ‘Öma‘o, Käma‘o, and Oloma‘o. The ‘Öma‘o (Hawai‘i I.) currently occupies suitable habitat above 1,000 m within its range. The Käma‘o (Kaua‘i I) is believed to occur within the boundaries of Alaka‘i Swamp at elevations above 1,000 m. The Oloma‘o’s range shows the probable distribution of the Moloka‘i population, if it exists, and the former distribution of the Läna‘i population before extinction in the 1930s. The ‘Ämaui (O‘ahu) is extinct.
