Conservation
Conservation Status
Although Ancash Tapaculo has a restricted distribution, the population is believed to be stable, and its IUCN Red List conservation status is evaluated as Least Concern (BirdLife International 2015).
The relative abundance of Ancash Tapaculo is assessed as locally fairly common (Krabbe and Schulenberg 2003).
Effects of human activity on populations
In the short term, Ancash Tapaculo is little affected by human activity (BirdLife International 2015), although like all range-restricted species of high elevations in the Andes, it may be vulnerable in the future to the effects of global climate change. The center of the distribution of Ancash Tapaculo is Huascarán National Park.
