Azure-crowned Hummingbird is common and widely distributed, but its natural history is very poorly known. Very little is known about its foraging ecology, its breeding biology, and about demographic factors such as life span and survivorship, dispersal, or population regulation. The taxonomic status of the disjunct population of the Mosquitia region of Honduras and Nicaragua merits further investigation.
