Demography and Populations

Introduction

Banded Ground-Cuckoo is considered to be rare and local (López-Lanús et al. 1999). It occurs at extremely low population densities (0.125-0.25 individuals/km2; Jahn 2011) in 2-100 fragmented and isolated subpopulations. In addition, it is absent from many areas of appropriate habitat (BirdLife International 2017).

The global population is estimated to be 600-1700 individuals, and decreasing (BirdLife International 2017). See Conservation Status.

Generation length is estimated to be 4.2 years (BirdLife International 2017).
