Conservation

Barred Parakeet has a large geographic range, and, although the population trend has not been quantified, there is no evidence of a serious population decline (BirdLife International 2013). Consequently the IUCN Red List conservation status of Barred Parakeet is Least Concern.

Barred Parakeet is included in Appendix II of CITES, as is the case with most species of parrots, regardless of rarity (except for threatened species, which are on Appendix I of CITES, and a handful of species, common in captivity, that are not included on any CITES appendix).

Effects of human activity on populations

Barred Parakeet is little affected by human activity.
