Priorities for Future Research
Introduction
Although Band-tailed Nighthawk is widespread and, at least locally, is common, it remains a very poorly known species. Perhaps the most pressing research priority regarding this nighthawk is the question of whether, as is suggested by genetic and perhaps vocal evidence, Band-tailed Nighthawk represents a complex of two or more species. There also is very little information on its diet, and almost no information on the reproductive biology, territoriality and population density, dispersal, life span and survivorship, and molts for Band-tailed Nighthawk.
