Conservation

Conservation Status

Band-winged Nightjar has a very large geographic range, and so its IUCN Red List conservation status is assessed as of Least Concern (BirdLife International 2015a, 2015b, 2015c).

The relative abundance of Band-winged Nightjar usually is assessed as fairly common (Colombia, Hilty and Brown 1986; Venezuela, Hilty 2003; Peru, Schulenberg et al. 2010) or uncommon to fairly common (Ecuador, Ridgely and Greenfield 2001a).

Effects of human activity on populations

Band-winged Nightjar probably is little affected by human activity. In Peru (decussata) and Brazil (longirostris), it occurs in urban areas, and so it able to acclimate to human disturbance to some extent (Sick 1993, Ingels et al. 1999, Schulenberg et al. 2010).
