Behavior

Introduction

The behavior of Buff-fronted Quail-Dove is not well known. It forages while walking on the ground, and uses its bill to work through the leaf litter in search of food on the ground (Stiles and Skutch 1989). Usually remains in dense cover, but sometimes enter clearings, especially in the early morning (Stiles and Skutch 1989). When flushed, this quail-dove flies to a low perch, where, after landing, it vibrates the tail nervously (Stiles and Skutch 1989).

Territoriality

There are no published data on territorial defense, maintenance, or fidelity, or for territory or home range size, for Buff-fronted Quail-Dove.

Sexual Behavior

Not described; presumably is monogamous.

Social and interspecific behavior

Buff-fronted Quail-Dove usually is solitary or in loosely associated pairs (Ridgely and Gwynne 1989, Stiles and Skutch 1989).
