Breeding

Introduction

There is very little information about the reproduction of Black-crowned Antpitta. One nest encountered in Panama in April was a thin-walled, cup made of fine dark rootlets placed upon several dead leaves in the crown of a small, understory palm approximately one meter above the ground (Wetmore 1972). The nest had two, pinkish-buff eggs with purplish blotches and dense brown spots.

A fledgling also was observed following a female on July 12 in the Canal Zone of Panama (Karr 1971).
