Subspecies

Related Species

Cory and Hellmayr (1924) suggested that Hypocnemoides was related to Myrmochanes. Phylogenetic analysis of DNA sequence data (of both mitochondrial and nuclear genes) places as Hypocnemoides as basal to a clade of Hylophylax antbirds; in contrast, Myrmochanes is in a clade with a species of Formicivora and several species of Myrmotherula (Brumfield et al. 2007).
