Conservation
Conservation Status
Although Black-cheeked Warbler is a restricted-range species, it does not approach the threshold for Vulnerable under range size. The population is suspected to be in decline, however, due to ongoing habitat destruction. The IUCN Red List conservation status of Black-cheeked Warbler is Least Concern (BirdLife International 2016).
Effects of human activity on populations
There seem to be no direct effects of human activity on Black-cheeked Warbler, other than the effects of habitat destruction or degradation; the population is suspected to be in decline due to such activities (BirdLife International 2016), although apparently such declines have not been documented. Its sensitivity to habitat modification is estimated to be "medium" (Parker et al. 1996).
