Breeding
Introduction
In Costa Rica, breeds February-October (Skutch 1959, Stiles and Skutch 1989); on Trinidad, breeds June-August (Belcher and Smooker 193x).
Both sexes contribute to nest construction; the nest can be completed within two or three days (Skutch 1959). The nest is a frail saucer in a thicket or tree, 1-10.5 m above the ground (Skutch 1959). The eggs are white, and the clutch usually is two. Both sexes incubate. The incubation period is about 14 days (Skutch 1959). Both sexes provision the young. The nestling period is at least nine days.
