Introduction
Found only in the Andes of northern Bolivia, Black-hooded Sunbeam inhabits a small portion of the country in humid cloud forests and in open shrub between humid slopes and montane basins. These large hummingbirds are purplish black a glittering blue or greeen lower back, a rufous tail, and a white chest tufts. Black-hooded Sunbeam feeds on both nectar and insects, and often cling to flowers when gathering nectar. Otherwise very little is known about the natural history of this attactive hummingbird.
