Diet and Foraging

Diet

Blue-throated Goldentail is primarily nectarivorous. Its diet is not described in detail, but is is known to visit flowers of Stachytarpheta, Hamelia, Heliconia, Renealmia, Thalea, Inga, Psidium, Lobelia, and some epiphytes (Feinsinger 1976, Stiles and Skutch 1989, Stiles 1999).

Blue-throated Goldentail also consume small arthropods, as probably do all species of hummingbirds (Remsen et al. 1983).
