Sounds and Vocal Behavior

Vocalizations

The song of Blue-tailed Hummingbird is a short twitter. Calls of Blue-tailed Hummingbird include "a hard, raspy bzzzrt ... hard chips, and high, sharp siik! in flight" (Howell and Webb 1995).

There are few audio recordings of vocalizations of Blue-tailed Hummingbird; additional audio recordings can be heard at xeno-canto.

Nonvocal Sounds

None reported, other than the usual "whirring" or "humming" sound of the wings in flight, audible (as in most hummingbirds) at close range.
