Behavior
Introduction
Blue Seedeaters forage in forest understory, 3-12 m above the ground (Stiles and Skutch 1989). These finches can be active, hopping and flitting actively (Stiles and Skutch 1989).
Blue Seedeaters sing from within cover, including while foraging, or from prominent perches (Howell and Webb 1995).
Territoriality
There are no published data on territorial defense, maintenance, or fidelity for Blue Seedeater.
Sexual Behavior
Very little information. Blue Seedeater presumably is monogamous. Blue Seedeaters sing from within cover, including while foraging, or from prominent perches (Howell and Webb 1995).
Social and interspecific behavior
Blue Seedeaters usually are solitary or in pairs, or small (family?) groups (Stiles and Skutch 1989). Less frequently Blue Seedeaters associate with Black-cheeked Warblers (Basileuterus melanogenys) or Yellow-thighed Finches (Pselliophorus tibialis) (Stiles and Skutch 1989).
Predation
Little is known about possible predators of Blue Seedeater.
