Introduction

Very little is known about the natural history of Blue Seedeater. Particularly useful would be information on the diet of this species, a better understanding of its sensitivity to habitat degradation, and any information on topics such as territoriality, life span and survivorship, dispersal, population regulation, and additional details of the reproductive biology. Further investigation of the taxonomic status of the rare and endemic Mexican subspecies, relicta, also is warranted.
