Sounds and Vocal Behavior

Vocalizations

Male Brazilian Merganser calling. Photo: Carlos E.A. Carvalho/Instituto Terra BrasilisBrazilian Merganser has some different calls. The most common is similar to a dog's bark (e.g., XC 18523). Male and female vocalize very often and they easily answer playbacks. There is also a harsh crock-crock alarm call which is made mainly during flight and a soft rak-rak-rak contact call.

Nonvocal Sounds

None reported.
