Introduction
The nests of the Brassy-breasted Tanager is a deep cup, similar to that produced by many other species of tanager, and are well- lined (Sick 1993). Brassy-breasted Tanager nests are most commonly found near the distal end of a branch (Sick 1993). Isler and Isler (1987) describe the nesting behavior of the Brassy-breasted Tanager, based on Steinbacher (1938): In captivity, female Brassy-breasted Tanagers typically build the nest, but males assist in gathering nesting material. Brassy-breasted Tanager eggs are mostly white with small, light grey spots and the clutch is three. Incubation lasts an average of 12-13 days, and is performed solely by the female; the male occasionally feeds the incubating female.
