Diet

The diet of Brown-capped Vireo is very poorly known. The diet primarily is insects. These vireos also consume berries, although their importance in the diet is not clear; Stiles and Skutch (1989) describe vireos as taking "many" berries, although Hilty (2003) reports that vireos only occasionally consume small fruits. The contribution of small fruit to the diet of Brown-capped Vireo may vary seasonally and/or geographically.
