Conservation

Brown Tinamou has a very large geographic range, and the population trend is believed to be stable. Consequently the IUCN Red List conservation status of Brown Tinamou is assessed as Least Concern (BirdLife International 2014).

Effects of human activity on populations

No short term threats to Brown Tinamou are identified (BirdLife International 2014). Brown Tinamou is dependent upon forested habitats, however, and so the primary threats to this species are loss or fragmentation of forest, such as from clearing for agriculture and livestock grazing.
