Diet and Foraging

Diet

The diet is very little known, but is reported to consume seeds of the families Poaceae (Guadua superba), Lauraceae, Euphorbiaceae (including of Mabea fistulifera), and Rutaceae (Sick 1993, Cabot 1992, Vieira et al. 1992). Probably also regularly consumes invertebrates; Willis (1983) once observed a pair of Brown Tinamous following a swarm of arny ants (Labidus praedator), near which they "pecked tiny prey now and then".
