Priorities for Future Research

Introduction

Brown Tinamou is fairly common across its extensive range, but this is a secretive bird, difficult to observe, and most aspects of its life history are very poorly documented. There is very little information on the diet and reproductive biology of Brown Tinamou, and no information on such topics as age at first breeding, life span and survivorship, dispersal, population regulation, social behavior, territoriality, population density, and sexual behavior. Another priorities for research are geographic variation in multiple traits (vocalizations, plumage and morphometrics), the geographic ranges of the described subspecies, and the taxonomic status of these taxa.
