Diet and Foraging
Diet
Columbids are considered primarily granivorous and frugivorous. Seaman (1966) examined crop contents of collected Bridled Quail-Doves and found primarily fruit, flowers, seeds, and infrequently mollusks (e.g., slugs and snails) and invertebrates. Chipley (1991) reported berries of Eugenia spp. were a common food item. Boal (2008) observed a Bridled Quail-Dove capture and consume a dwarf gecko (Sphaerodactylus macrolepi) while foraging in dense leaf litter.
