Diet and Foraging
Diet
The diet of Brushland Tinamou consists of budding leaves, grass shoots, fruits, and insects. Insects make up a large portion of their diet; the main insects eaten include ants, beetles, and cicadas (Lancaster 1964). These tinamous are opportunistic foragers and eat mollusks if they are near an irrigation ditch (Dinelli 1929).
