Cayenne Jay Cyanocorax cayanus

The Cayenne Jay is a typical Cyanocorax: it is a medium sized jay with a mostly black head, bluish-purple wings and tail and a white belly. It occurs in humid lowland forests and forest edges and in northeastern South American in eastern Venezuela, northern Brazil and the Guianas. This species is a cooperative breeder, like some other members of the genus. Although the Cayenne Jay is large and distinctive, it is little studied and many aspects of its natural history remain undocumented.
