Behavior

Introduction

In contrast to most species of Poospiza, which are primarily arboreal, Chestnut-breasted Mountain-Finch typically forages on the ground; it ususally remains close to the cover of shrubs, however (Fjeldså and Krabbe 1990).

Chestnut-breasted Mountain-Finch usually sings from a low perch, near the ground, but may ascend high into trees during territorial disputes (Fjeldså and Krabbe 1990).
