Breeding
Introduction
The nest is in a cavity, which may be natural, such as cavities in trees (Reynolds 1934), or in human habitations, such as under the eaves of a building (Johnson 1967). The nest is made of mud (Johnson 1967). The clutch consists of four to six white, unmarked eggs (Johnson 1967). The dimensions of the eggs are 19.9 (± 0.13) x 13.6 (± 0.05) mm (Johnson 1967); 20.x x 13.8 (range 17.8-21 x 13-14.3 mm), mass 2.03 g (Turner and Rose 1989).
In Chile two and sometimes three broods are raised per year; the breeding season commences in September or early October, with the second clutch in December, and "not unfrequently" a third clutch in February (Johnson 1967).
