Sounds and Vocal Behavior

Vocalizations

The song of Chilean Tinamou is described as "a whistled tweewít" (Fjeldså and Krabbe 1990) or as "a strident, loud far-carrting whistle that sounds double-syllabled, sweee weeee" (Jaramillo 2003).

For a representative audio recording with sonogram, see audio

When flushed, Chilean Tinamou gives a descending series of whistles, swee wee wee wee wee wee ... (Jaramillo 2003).

Nonvocal Sounds

The wings of Chilean Tinamou produce a whirring noise when flushed (Jaramillo 2003).
