Related Species
Monophyly of the genus Nothoprocta is well-supported by analyses of both morphological and genetic characters (Bertelli et al 2002, Bertelli and Porzecanski 2004). Nothoprocta perdicaria is most closely related to Nothoprocta curvirostris (Curve-billed Tinamou) and Nothoprocta pentlandii (Andean Tinamou), although phylogenetic relationships between these three species are not completely resolved (Bertelli et al 2002, Bertelli and Porzecanski 2004)
