Behavior

Introduction

Colombian Chachalacas do make long flights, only from tree to tree or from branch to branch. They are very loud and raucous, but can be frightened by the presence of people. Chachalacas spend most of their time in trees such as Ficus sp. or Cecropia sp., where have reported in groups of up to 20 or more individuals. These chachalacas are frequently observed at edges, gallery forest near crops and pastures.

Territoriality

Chachalacas generally are territorial (Delacour and Amadon 1973), but there are no published data on territorial defense, maintenance, or fidelity, or for territory or home range size, for Colombian Chachalaca.

Sexual Behavior

Undescribed; Colombian Chachalaca presumably is at least socially monogamous.

Social and interspecific behavior

Colombian Chachalaca is social, and is seen in groups of up to 20 individuals.

Predation

There are no reports of predation on Colombian Chachalaca?
