Breeding

Introduction

The nest and eggs of Colombian Chachalaca apparently are undescribed, but presumably are similar to those of other species of chachalaca. Typically the nests of chachalcas are a relatively small saucer of twigs, loosely built, and often relatively low near the ground; the cluch is 3-4 white or creamy eggs; only the female incubates; and incubation lasts ca 24-26 days (Delacour and Amadon 1973). Miller (1952) collected a half grown juvenile Colombian Chachalaca in early February, and a female collected in late February had a brood patch.
