Introduction

Collared Crescentchest is a characteristic bird of the cerrado, especially in relatively open, grassy cerrado with a scattering of bushes or low trees. Crescentchests forage on or near the ground, solitarily or in pairs, where they are difficult to observe; but males often sing from an elevated perch. Large areas of cerrado now are being lost to advancing large-scale agriculture, but Collared Crescentchest has a very wide distribution and is not considered to be threatened.
