Diet and Foraging

Diet

The feeding habits of this species are poorly known. It forages at or after dusk for worms, insects, molluscs, and occasionally lizards and small rodents (Hume 2004).

The stomach of a female collected in Texas contained three beetles (two Scarabaeidae, one Carabidae), a weevil (Curculionidae), and the legs and hard parts of several grasshoppers (MacInnes and Chamberlain 1963).
