Vocalizations
The song of Dusky Nightjar is reminiscent of the songs of whip-poor-wills (Slud 1964), and is described as "a trilled, double-noted whistle prurrr prureee or prurrrr prruwhip" (Cleere 1998) or as "chup-wheer-purrWHEEEW, the chup low-pitched, audible only a close range, the wheer-purr with a rolling quality, the final wheeew loudest, with a burry tone" (Stiles and Skutch 1989).
