Elegant Crested-Tinamou Eudromia elegans

Conservation

Elegant Crested-Tinamou has an extremely large geographic range. Therefore, although the population appears to be in decline, its IUCN Red List status is assessed as Least Concern (BirdLife International 2014).

Effects of human activity on populations

Elegant Crested-Tinamou is hunted, but often can maintain itself in the face of this pressure. The greatest effect of human activity is observed where farming practices extensively alter the original habitat, or in areas adjacent to human settlements where year-round hunting, coupled with consumption of the eggs, all of which serve to reduce populations (Bohl 1970).
