Introduction

There are several species of martins in the Neotropics that are little known, but the Galapagos Martin may be the least studied of them all. This species is a small Progne that is restricted to the Galapagos Islands. This is a typical "purple" martin: the male is uniformly purplish blue, and the female is blue above with uniformly brown underparts. Although this martin is found on most islands in the Galapagos archipelago, it has attracted little attention from ornithologists.
