Distribution
Distribution in the Americas
Occurs in the mountains of eastern Honduras and northwestern Nicaragua (Monroe 1968, Howell and Webb 1995). Elevational range 1400–2200 m (Howell and Webb 1995), although occasionally also found at lower elevations according to Bonta and Anderson (2002), who give 750– 2400 m as elevational range.
Distribution outside the Americas
Endemic to northern Central America.
Habitat
Humid evergreen and pine-evergreen forest and edge (Howell & Webb 1995). Common in transitional pine-oak/cloud forest. Seasonal altitudinal movements likely, based on strong seasonal differences in capture rates at a bird monitoring site in Honduras (Reserva Biológica Monte Uyuca, pers. obs.).
