Distribution

Distribution in the Americas

The Golden-crowned Warbler is distributed from Mexico and Central America south to Argentina. In Mexico it is found north to western Nayarit in the west, and to Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas  in the east.

There are sevearl gaps within this broad distribution. For example, the Golden-crowned Warbler is absent from much of Panama, and does not occur in Amazonia or in the central Andes.

The Golden-crowned Warbler is resident.

Distribution outside the Americas

Endemic to the Americas.

Habitat

The Golden-crowned Warbler occurs in humid to semihumid evergreen and semideciduous forest, adjacent second growth, and in shaded coffee plantations. The elevational range is from the lowlands up to 2100 m.
