Demography and Populations

Introduction

The population size of Green-throated Tanager has not been quantified. Parker et al. (1996) categorize the Green-throated Tanager as uncommon and patchily distrubuted relative to other Neotropical birds with a center of abundance in the Middle Montane Zone. Populations within Ecuador were only first discovered in 1992, and Restall et al. (2007) label them as ‘Data Deficient’ within the country (Ridgely and Greenfield 2001a). Information on population size is insufficient; current trends in population are declining (Birdlife International 2014). No information is available on age at first breeding, life span survivorship, or parasitism.
