Introduction
Golden-bellied Starfrontlet is a lmedium sized hummingbird with a long straight black bill. Males have glittering green frontlets and their rumps and lower underparts range in color from golden orange to glittering gold. Females are shiny green becoming golden orange on their rumps and cinnamon below. This hummingbird is distributed in the Andes from eastern Colombia to western Venezuela from medium to high elevations (1400-3200 m). Golden-bellied Starfrontlet inhabits the edge of humid forests where it feeds on nectar from the tubular flowers of medium height to tall bushes. They also hover for insects.
