Sounds and Vocal Behavior

Vocalizations

The distinctive vocalization (song?) of Golden-winged Tody-Flycatcher is described as "a dry, gravelly, almost sputtering dre'd'd'd'deu or p-drrrew, often repeated several times in quick succession and sometimes given as a duet" (Ridgely and Greenfield 2001b); and as "a rapid series of descending, rich, sputtered churrs: djerr djeer djeer djeer….," often given in a duet and accompanied by flashing of both wings (Lane, in Schulenberg et al. 2010).

Additional audio recordings of vocalizations of Golden-winged Tody-Flycatcher can be heard at Macaulay Library, at xeno-canto, and at Internet Bird Collection.
