Distribution
Distribution in the Americas
Green-backed Sparrow is resident in southeastern Mexico, Belize, northern Guatemala, and western Honduras. The distribution in Mexico extends west to Tabasco and northern Chiapas (Miller et al. 1957, Howell and Webb 1995).
Green-backed Sparrow is restriced to the lowlands, from sea level up to 750 m in Mexico (Howell and Webb 1995).
Distribution outside the Americas
Endemic to the Americas.
Habitat
Green-backed Sparrow usually occupies lowland evergreen forest and forest edge; in western Honduras (twomeyi), occurs in arid scrub and thorn scrub (Paynter 1955, Smithe 1966, Monroe 1968, Howell and Webb 1995).
