Priorities for Future Research

Introduction

Green-backed Sparrow is widespread and fairly common, but its natural history is very poorly known. It especially would be useful to better understand the tolerance of this species to habitat disturbance or degradation, and to document long term population trends. The diet of Green-backed Sparrow is almost completely unknown, and there also is very little information on its reproductive biology. There is no information on such topics as territoriality, population density, life span and survivorship, dispersal, population regulation, molts, and sexual behavior. Finally, the taxonomy of the entire genus Arremonops should be addressed, to better understand how many species should be recognized in the genus, and how to allocate the various described taxa across these species.
