Sounds and Vocal Behavior
Vocalizations
Its usual call is a loud and squeaky kyew or tyew, often repeated when agitated (Stiles and Skutch 1989). Displaying males in Costa Rica give a tseek, tseek, tseek call, with the quality and cadence of the vocalizations of Black-headed Tody-Flycatcher (Todirostrum nigriceps) (B. Whitney, in Ridgely and Gwynne 1989). The species also emits loud sputtering notes and squeaks during chases (Stiles and Skutch 1989).
Nonvocal Sounds
Apparently none have been documented.
