Breeding

Introduction

There is little information on the breeding biology of Green-striped Brush-Finch. Nests with eggs are reported from late April-mid June (Rowley 1962), but at another site species with enlarged gonads were collected into mid July, and the species probably is double brooded (Schaldach 1963). The nest is a deep cup of grasses, dry leaves and pine needles, lined with cattle hair and fine rootlets, and placed 1-1.5 m above the ground in dense shrubs (Rowley 1962). The clutch is two. The eggs are very pale bluish white and unmarked; the dimensions of one set of eggs were 26 x 17 mm and 25 x 17.5 mm (Rowley 1962). There is further information on the nesting of the species.
