Green-striped Brush-Finch is considered to have a very large geographic range, and the population is believed to be stable. Consequently its IUCN Red List conservation status is evaluated as Least Concern (BirdLife International 2014). Similarly it is not considered to be a threatened species under Mexican law (SEMARNAT 2010).
The relative abundance of Green-striped Brush-Finch is assessed as fairly common to common (Howell and Webb 1995).
Effects of human activity on populations
No threats to Green-striped Brush-Finch are identified by BirdLife International (2014). Habitat destruction or degradation may jeopardize the viability of populations of this species.
