Gray-winged Trumpeter Psophia crepitans

Priorities for Future Research
Introduction
Much of the work done on trumpters, especially on the vocalizations and breeding, have been done on the Pale-winged Trumpeter (Psophia leucoptera). Presumably, many aspects of the natural history of the Gray-winged Trumpeter and of the Dark-winged Trumpeter (Psophia viridis) are similar, but this needs to be confirmed with field studies.
In addition, as trumpeters provide a valuable source of food for local people and trumpeter populations are declining, it is important to learn more about trumpeter population ecology in the interest of keeping this species common. In addition, it is important to see to what extent trumpeters have declined from habitat destruction and how tolerant they are of habitat fragmentation to better conserve these species.
